What if an athlete plays more than one sport?

Neutral Hills Academy recognizes that students often play multiple sports. Numerous members of the academy partake in school sports including volleyball, hockey, and basketball during the winter months. Neutral Hills Academy requests that baseball is a student's first athletic priority, especially during our competition season.

What is the ‘Game Only Player’ option?

The Game Only Player option is an option provided to younger players that wish to still live at home but experience the high competition level of the Neutral Hills Academy Fall Schedule. These players are responsible to meet the team at the bus departure location, be picked up along the way, or arrive at the destination themselves.

What can an athlete expect from the Neutral Hills Baseball Academy Program?

September to October is constructed around heavy game focus. Academy hours are spent following the in-season plan, team defensive plays, situational awareness drills, and zone command. When available, mid-week exhibition games are scheduled against other programs.

November and December involves batting practice and heavy training. After the final tournament the Wranglers partake in, throwing is halted until the new year. Three days a week are spent in the Fitness Center following programs created by Jeff Osadec, who is the trainer for MLB Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Soroka. The other major focus of this period is the offensive side of baseball. Axe bats are used to create a better path to the ball, quicker hands, and an overall better swing.

January to March involve pitching and functional work. Athletes follow a Driveline baseball throwing and recovery program. During these months we work with pitchers to gain velocity and control. Athletes continue with workouts three times a week. During this period workout programs are altered to focus on more functional movements with less weight and higher repetition.

April to May is where athletes begin practicing outside and workout days are moved towards conditioning. The Wranglers begin playing every weekend when the snow melts.

Where is the Neutral Hills Baseball Academy located?

Neutral Hills Baseball Academy is located in East Central Alberta. Academy members attend Consort school in Consort, AB. The Wrangler’s field house and diamond are located in Veteran, AB, approximately 24km down the highway from Consort. All academy members travel together on the team bus to and from the field house.

Does Neutral Hills Baseball Academy help with college placement?

Neutral Hills Baseball Academy provides all the assistance that a player needs to attend a realistic college they desire to continue their baseball and academic endeavours. The academy has helped place all graduating athletes that have desired to continue playing baseball at the collegiate level.
